Lexington Herald Leader political reporter, and Kentucky Open Government Coalition co-director, Austin Horn, is on the ground in Eastern Kentucky to provide coverage of the devastating floods of last week.

Here he appears on BBC News.

This July 30 Herald Leader story by Austin — who was born in hard hit Martin County — and Herald-Leader Eastern and Southern Kentucky regional reporter, Bill Estep, focuses on the destruction to the local historical and cultural record.

The Coalition honors the work of national, state, and local heroes who have come to the rescue of the people of Eastern Kentucky, and those — like Bill and Austin — who remind us that a long road to recovery lies ahead.
