In welcomed news, Representative James Tipton, R-Taylorsville, announced today that the confidentiality provision for police pursuit policies mandated by HB 298 has been eliminated.

We expressed concern about the confidentiality provision soon after Rep. Tipton filed HB 298.

Questioned about the confidentiality provision by Representative Patti Minter, D-Bowling Green, during the House Judiciary Committee meeting, Rep. Tipton confirmed that it was removed by Committee Substitute.

HB 298, with Committee Substitute, passed out of the Committee by a 20-0 vote.

(The LRC website has not yet been updated to reflect the changes made by the Committee Sub).

A good bill is now an even better bill.
