A very bad day for LMPD as the Courier Journal files 3 open records appeals with the Kentucky Attorney General for records relating to the Breonna Taylor shooting.

"All they do is keep recycling arguments that have been repeatedly rejected by courts and the attorney general."

"The fact that that's how they've chosen to respond here," observes attorney Michael Abate — who represents the Courier in these appeals — "shows a concerted effort to keep everything, all underlying factual information in this case, under wraps until they're ready to tell their story about what happened."

The Attorney General will issue open records decisions in each of these appeals determining whether LMPD violated the open records act in denying the Courier's request within 20 business days.

If history is any indicator, the cases may from there go to the Jefferson Circuit Court and beyond.
