An update on our earlier post coinciding with yesterday's publication of the final installment in the Courier Journal-ProPublica partnership examining KentuckyWired.

The governor's office today offered its assurance to The Courier that it will "finish KentuckyWired, the state's much-delayed internet project, by October, despite continued funding woes."

The administration will seek an additional $100 million to complete the project—the legislature denied the same request for additional funding late last year.

The obstacles seemed insurmountable for the previous administrations, but the new administration has accepted the challenge and declared the project one that cannot fail.
