"The Role of Transparency in Policing the Police"

Kentucky's open records laws vary in detail from those in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, but our shared experience confirms the New England First Amendment Coalition's conclusion that law enforcement agencies are currently, and have been in the past, the most "energetically resistant"to transparency and accountability.

NEFAC "defends, promotes and expands public access to government and the work it does. The coalition is a broad-based organization of people who believe in the power of transparency in a democratic society."

Here, NEFAC provides a valuable overview of the challenges regularly encountered in securing access to records of law enforcement agencies in a video entitled "The Role of Transparency in Policing the Police."
