On the occasion of his June 5 birthday, a "rerun" of an earlier post in which Bill Moyers describes the inauspicious birth of the Freedom of Information Act.

Moyers famously declared that "Secrecy is the freedom tyrants dream of." This is, perhaps, the most eloquent statement of the importance of transparency.
