My favorite MuckRock article, "Cooking with FOIA: The military's official brownie recipe," contains a 26 page document first obtained in 2003 captioned "MIL-C-44072C." It includes detailed descriptions of standards and specifications for militarily sound brownie preparation that MuckRock favorably compares to the Soviet Army's borscht recipe.

The most shocking revelation? The military still recommended cooking with shortening in 2003 despite the known risks of increased bad cholesterol and heart disease.

Running a close second to this article on my list of favorites, MuckRock offers: "Spice up your office Slack with J. Edgar Hoover's handwritten notes." It describes the article as part of its Great Hoover Hunt that identifies "the Director's snittiest marginalia." https://www.muckrock.com/…/2019/may/23/j-edgar-hoover-notes/

Just a little timely fun with public records.
