In it's latest "Uncovered" podcast, WDRB examines yet another failed promise of greater transparency following Louisville Metro's decision to entrust LMPD officer involved shooting investigations to the Kentucky State Police — an agency with a well-documented history of open records noncompliance.

In a conversation with WDRB digital reporter Chris Otts, reporter Travis Ragsdale describes a recent traffic stop in the Portland neighborhood that ended in a police shooting and the death of the vehicle's driver.

"It's all been frankly very bizarre since this shooting happened. We knew that this was eventually going to happen, where Kentucky State Police was going to take over one of these investigations for the first time. What we didn't realize is, there is seemingly a disconnect between state police and Louisville Metro government as to how this is supposed to work."

The Kentucky Open Government Coalition extends continuing thanks to the team at WDRB for shining an often unflattering light on state and local government through aggressive use of the open records and open meetings laws.
