It appears that the Courier Journal is not the only records requester heading to court in a records access dispute.

In another case announced today, Lambda Legal has sued the Department of Health and Human Services under the federal Freedom of Information Act following its months' long unsuccessful efforts to obtain records relating to the ability of LGBTQ people to access health care.

Federal agencies are particularly notorious for failing or refusing to comply with the Freedom of Information Act. FOIA requires a federal agency response granting or denying a request within 20 days, but this deadline is rarely met.

This is a problem not unlike the one we are now experiencing with regularity in Kentucky, our three day statutory deadline notwithstanding.
