I mention the op-ed concerning legislative noncompliance with the open meetings law which appears below for one reason.

The following tweet appeared on May 6. It announced an open meeting of members of the Democratic Caucus with representatives of the governor's staff, the Finance Cabinet, and the Kentucky Retirement Systems to discuss the governor's proposal to provide pension relief to regional universities and quasi-governmental agencies.

Although a quorum of the members of either chamber was not present, and the open meetings law was not triggered, this open meeting sent an important message in support of the public's right to know.

All lawmakers would do well to follow this example.
