"Gov. Andy Beshear vetoed three bills Tuesday, including one that would weaken Kentucky's open records law.

"Under HB 312, Franklin Circuit Court would not longer handle appeals for open records requests denied by the Legislative Research Commission. The legislature would instead serve as the final arbiter of such requests.

"Groups like the Kentucky Open Government Coalition strongly opposed HB 312, though the Kentucky Press Association remained neutral on the bill after several provisions they strongly opposed were left out of the bill."
